Keeping of German Reichshühnern
A hardy and robust breed that is well suited for outdoor keeping . As they are good foragers, they enjoy a large garden. Rich chickens are only moderate fliers and prefer to keep their feet on the ground.
Character of German Reichshühnern
Rich chickens are very calm and trusting animals and quickly become tame. They can be counted among the more relaxed breeds with a clear conscience. They are said to have little breeding instinct, but in smaller groups this seems to be different, as if they needed a small “family group”. The roosters of this breed take good care of their flock.
Eggs from German Reichshühnern
Rich hens lay approx. 180 creamy yellow eggs in their first year, weighing approx. 55 g. Unfortunately, egg production decreases in the second year to approx. 140 eggs. However, they lay eggs very reliably in winter.
