General information about the Friesian
Nothing is known about the origins of the Friesian hen – a laying breed. It has been a familiar sight on Frisian (Dutch) farms for centuries and was not exposed to the influence of foreign breeds during this period. It is assumed that this breed originated at least in part from European wild chickens, just like the Drenthe chicken. They belong to the speckled hens.
Appearance of friezes
This large breed has slate blue legs, white ear discs and red wattles. All colors have orange eyes. The single comb is a beautiful red. The beak is light yellow / light beige. The cocks of this perky breed weigh up to 1.6 kg.

Keeping Friesians
These chickens are excellent fliers and good foragers. They are very happy to have a large run and make no other demands. Just don’t forget to make sure the fence is high enough.
Character of Friesians
They are very active, robust but also friendly animals. They will never become completely tame, but over time they will lose the worst of their shyness. Unfortunately, the breeding behavior of the females is not very pronounced.
Eggs from Friesian hens
The hens lay approx. 160 white eggs weighing 52g per year.
