Old Frenchmen
General information about the Créve Coeur
The Créve Coeur chicken is probably the oldest meat breed from France, more precisely from Normandy. They were described as early as the 16th century. Very little is known about their ancestors, but it is assumed that they include Paduans and other crested and bearded chickens.
Appearance of Créve Coeurs
These chickens have a beard and a lush cap. The crest of the horns is red, as are the wattles. The unfeathered legs are slate gray, the beaks rather dark gray. The eyes of these pretty animals are reddish brown. The cocks weigh up to 3.5 kg.

Attitude of Créve Coeurs
Due to their luxuriant coat, it must be checked regularly for vermin. They are also very grateful for a dry place, as otherwise their hood and beard become matted. However, they are not good at flying.
Character of Créve Coeurs
A very calm and cozy breed, they breed moderately often, but more so in summer. But when they do, they are very caring mothers. With a little effort, the animals will definitely eat from your hand.
Eggs from Créve hens
The hens lay about 150 white eggs weighing 55g per year.
