General information about the Bielefeld Kennhuhn
The Bielefeld Kennhuhn was bred in Hanover in the 1970s. The name Kennhuhn comes from the fact that the hens and cocks can already be distinguished on the day of hatching by their differently marked feathers. They contain Amrocks, Mecheleners, New Hampshires and Rhodelanders. They are bantam hens and are known for their laying performance as well as their rapid growth.
Appearance of Bielefeld’s most recognizable figures
Bielefelder has a red single crest, yellow legs and beaks and the wattles are also red. The eyes of the animals are orange-red. At around 4 kg, the males of this breed are quite heavyweights.

Keeping of Bielefeld breed chickens
Bielefelds appreciate a run, but also feel comfortable in enclosures. They make no special demands on their keeping. Kennhühner are also suitable for beginners as they are a rather cozy and not too lively breed.
Character of the Bielefeld Kennhühner
The Kennhühner are very calm and trusting and can be easily tamed by hand. They have hardly any breeding instinct.
